Several specific import procedures meet the needs of each Calagenda user.
- Importing a custom calendar template: Learn more.
- Importing an external calendar from Google, Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple, etc.: Learn more.
- Importing or synchronizing a calendar using a backup: The documentation below describes the objectives, prerequisites, and procedure.
Objectives
Restore following a browser or hardware change.
All personal data related to your calendar is stored locally. This method has several advantages, such as functionality even if you lose network access, fast processing, and, above all, data confidentiality.
- In return, you must periodically perform a backup, and the procedure below allows you to restore your calendar if you change browsers, computers, smartphones, or tablets.
Synchronizing Multiple Calendars
If, for example, you own a computer and a smartphone, or if you want to manage a calendar with several family members or any other group, the synchronization function will meet this need.
Prerequisites
Importing calendar data requires that you have previously performed a full or partial backup in .txt format. The backup tool is available via the menu: Quick Access, Calendar, Export.
Procedure
The calendar data import tool is available via the menu: Quick Access, Calendar, Import/Sync.
It consists of 2 steps.
File Selection
Click on "Choose a file" and select the file with the .txt extension, corresponding to a backup.
Choosing Options and Importing
Verify that the export date is correct.
By default, all data in the file will be processed, but you can restrict the import:
- To a given period: click "Select" and choose a starting month and the number of months. Note that this selection only applies to calendar data, activity tracking, and periodic reports. Birthdays, holidays to celebrate, and holidays to display will not be imported if a period is selected.
- To a data type:
- Daily Calendar
- Birthdays
- Holidays to celebrate
- Holidays to display display
- Periodic Reports
- For one or more activities
- Three import types are available:
- Data replacement: with this option:
- Calendar, activity tracking, and periodic report data corresponding to The selected period will all be deleted before import.
- Other data (Birthdays, Holidays to Celebrate, Holidays to Display) will also be deleted if they are selected (checked).
- Adding Data: All selected data corresponding to the period will be added. For example, it is possible to add only the data corresponding to one or more specific activities.
- Synchronize two calendars: This option is useful if you want to manage your calendar, for reading and updating, on two devices, for example, your computer and your smartphone, or if you manage a calendar with one or more other people. You decide the location and frequency of backups, usually a cloud service, and you thus control the confidentiality of your data.
The procedure is then as follows:- Save the calendar from your device A to location A.
- Save the calendar from your device B to location B.
- On device A, perform a synchronization to Starting from backup B.
- On device B, perform a synchronization from backup A.
- Data replacement: with this option:
Click "Import".
A summary of the number of items imported for each type will be displayed.
